Institutional Standard

Responsible Use of APMA Content

The Asia-Pacific Medical Association (“APMA,” “we,” “our,” or “the Association”) supports the responsible circulation of medical, scientific, professional, and public-health information. At the same time, APMA must protect the accuracy, integrity, attribution, and institutional context of the materials it publishes.

01Ownership of Content

Unless otherwise stated, the content available on this website and on APMA’s official digital channels is owned by, licensed to, or used with permission by APMA and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual-property laws.

Protected material may include, without limitation:

  • Articles, policy statements, reports, educational resources, summaries, and other written material;
  • Page designs, graphics, illustrations, photographs, videos, audio, data visualizations, and downloadable files;
  • Databases, compilations, taxonomies, website structure, and the selection or arrangement of content; and
  • APMA-created event, committee, membership, and institutional communications.
Unless a specific item carries a different notice, the applicable statement is: © Asia-Pacific Medical Association. All rights reserved.

02Permitted Use

You may view, download, or print reasonable portions of APMA content for personal, non-commercial, educational, academic, or internal professional reference, provided that you:

  • Preserve all copyright, attribution, source, and other proprietary notices;
  • Identify APMA as the source and, where practical, include a link to the original page;
  • Do not modify the material in a way that changes its meaning, context, evidence, or institutional position; and
  • Do not imply APMA endorsement, approval, affiliation, or sponsorship.

Short quotations may be used for legitimate commentary, scholarship, news reporting, or citation where permitted by law and where clear attribution is provided.

03Uses Requiring Prior Written Permission

Except where expressly permitted by law or by a written APMA licence, you may not reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, license, adapt, translate, create derivative works from, or commercially exploit APMA content.

Prior written permission is also required to:

  • Republish substantial portions of APMA material on another website, platform, publication, product, or service;
  • Use APMA content in advertising, marketing, fundraising, commercial training, or paid educational products;
  • Systematically scrape, harvest, archive, or build a database from APMA content;
  • Remove or obscure notices, credits, disclaimers, watermarks, or source information; or
  • Present altered content as an official APMA statement, recommendation, standard, or position.

04Third-Party Material

Some materials displayed or referenced by APMA may belong to authors, photographers, publishers, institutions, data providers, licensors, or other third parties. Such material may carry separate credits, licence terms, or restrictions.

APMA’s permission does not extend to third-party content. Users are responsible for identifying the relevant rights holder and obtaining any permission required for their intended use.

05APMA Name, Logo, and Institutional Marks

The Asia-Pacific Medical Association name, APMA name and initials, logos, emblems, programme names, and other identifying marks may be protected as trademarks, service marks, or institutional identifiers.

No use of these marks is permitted in a manner that suggests endorsement, accreditation, certification, membership, partnership, or official representation without prior written authorization from APMA. Merely linking to or citing APMA does not grant a licence to use an APMA logo or mark.

06Linking and Responsible Sharing

You may link to publicly available pages on the APMA website, provided that the link is accurate, lawful, and does not misrepresent APMA or imply an unauthorized relationship. Links should direct users to the original APMA page wherever possible so that the current content, context, and notices remain available.

You may not frame, mirror, or embed a substantial part of the APMA website in a way that obscures its source, alters its presentation, or creates confusion about ownership or responsibility.

07Permission Requests

Requests to reproduce or adapt APMA material should identify the specific content, proposed use, format, audience, distribution method, territory, and expected duration of use. APMA may approve, decline, limit, or attach conditions to a request at its discretion and may require a separate written licence.

Permission applies only to the material and use expressly approved. Silence or failure to respond does not constitute permission.

08Copyright Concerns and Infringement Notices

If you believe content available through an APMA channel infringes your copyright, please provide a clear written notice containing:

  • Your name, role, and reliable contact information;
  • Identification of the protected work and the material you believe is infringing;
  • The exact APMA page address or other information sufficient to locate the material;
  • A brief explanation of your rights and the action requested; and
  • A statement that the information provided is accurate and submitted in good faith.

APMA may request additional information before reviewing or acting on a notice. Submission of a notice does not guarantee removal, and APMA may preserve records or seek advice where appropriate.

09Policy Updates and Reservation of Rights

APMA may update this Copyright Policy to reflect changes in its publications, digital services, institutional practices, or applicable requirements. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version. Continued use of APMA content is subject to the policy displayed at the time of use.

Nothing in this policy waives any right or remedy available to APMA or any third-party rights holder. Uses permitted by mandatory law remain unaffected.
